The MQSA Facility Trends tools from the Leonides Coalition incorporates one of the newest tools for spatial thinking, analyzing and visualizing spatial data.

Motion Chart is a free application originally developed by Gapminder and made publicly available by Google. Motion Chart is an innovative product that offers dynamic flash based charting Visualization API permitting the user to explore several indicators over time. Using this free online tool now makes it possible to examine the interrelationships between benchmarks such as number of certified facilities, accredited units and volume over a time frame spanning from November 2003, until the present.

Choose the metrics you want to compare and expose data relationships that would be difficult to see in traditional reports.

  • It is possible to consider up to 4 different indicators and display their relationship with one another at the same time
    • Selections may be made using pull-down menus located along the X-axis, Y-axis, size of dots and color scheme
    • Selections may also be made for specific months of the time period
  • When the apprporiate indicators have been selected, the slide bar at the bottom of the chart allows for a dynamic visualization of trending
    • Using the mouse, it is possible to step through the entire range in a static fashion
    • If the button on the slide bar is slid completely to the left of the chart and the arrow is then selected, a dynamic flash visualization will be rendered
